Club Description
National Honor Society is a nationally recognized organization that celebrates students for their achievements in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. To be eligible to apply for NHS, a student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 unweighted by the end his/her sophomore year. In the fall of the junior year, students who have met this requirement will receive an application to complete, where they share their leadership in a variety of school and community activities as well as share that they have completed 20 hours of a variety of service within the school and community since their freshman year. Students will also receive two teacher recommendations to support that their character is upstanding. Inductions will be held in the fall. If a student is not eligible his junior year or does not get selected, he/she may apply at the beginning of his/her senior year if meeting the GPA requirement.
Once in National Honor Society, students continue to give back to their school and community through a variety of activities such as:
- Tutoring
- Courtyard Cleanups
- Thanksgiving in a Basket
- Variety Show
- Spring Food Drive
- Activities helping the various elementary schools
