The 1927 edition of El Adios, the Bel Air High School yearbook states:
“The present Bel Air Grammar and High School is merely a continuation of the old Bel Air Academy, and back to the beginning of that Institution must we look for the history of the present school. The old Academy was first authorized by an Act of the Maryland Legislature, January 20, 1790; however, it was not until 1816 that the then uncompleted building was put into use. Its completion and use was taken care of by public and private donations and tuition fees. Rev. Reuben Davis became principal of the Academy in 1816 and because of his ability as an instructor and the high standards set by the school in its wide curriculum, the institution became widely known.”
To commemorate the bicentennial anniversary of the Bel Air Academy, Bel Air High School has scheduled a series of events to take place throughout the 2016-2017 school year. The first of these celebrations will be to showcase the Bobcats’ athletic teams during the weekend of October 7 and 8, 2016 with a series of games to be played at Bel Air High School.

For an event of this magnitude, alternate ticketing plans have to be put into place. Bel Air High School will be pre-selling wristbands for entrance to the games on Saturday. Individuals will need to also get a wristband (free of charge). Please keep in mind, if someone from one of these groups comes later in the day of the event and all 2,000 wristbands have been sold they will not be able to gain entrance into the stadium, regardless of their status age status, pass presented or employer.
